The Building
The Gifhorner citizen Horst Wrobel, who also had buildt next doors international mills museum, planned and created the Glockenpalast in style of a middle age monastery with integrated bell foundry. The construction of the building took 14 years (1996 to 2010). Groundbraking was done by Wrobels friend, the reformer president Michail Gorbatschow.
The room space of this imposing unique building is 36500 sqare feet (3400 sqare meter). The idea was to rent artisans a studio where they could work and sell their art to visitors. But this happened very little and failed.
In January 2022 the Gifhorn council bought the Glockenpalast and also next doors international mill museum, and looked for new operators.
Under many applicants Horst Edler, owner of Team Metisse GmbH (Manufacturer and supplier of motorcycle accessories) offered the best concept for the Glockenpalast with his Classic Superbikes Motorcycle Museum - and was chosen.
For the operation Horst Edler found the Motorradmuseum Gifhorn GmbH in November 2022.
